Becker & Poliakoff Bolsters Government Law and Lobbying Practice with Addition of Former Palm Beach-Broward State Senator Ellyn S. Bogdanoff

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Oct. 4, 2016 – Becker & Poliakoff today announced the second major expansion of its Government Law and Lobbying Practice Group in less than two weeks with the addition of former Florida State Sen. Ellyn S. Bogdanoff as a shareholder. Bogdanoff will conduct her practice at the firm’s Florida offices in Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee.

Bogdanoff, who served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2004 to 2010 and then in the Senate from 2010 to 2012, will continue to focus her law and lobbying practice on representing dozens of clients before the Florida Legislature and Executive Agencies. She will also grow her representation of developers on land use and zoning, as well as vendors seeking to work with Palm Beach County and cities.

“We are thrilled to welcome Senator Bogdanoff to the Becker & Poliakoff team,” said Gary C. Rosen, managing shareholder of the firm. “This addition, combined with our recent hires in Washington, D.C., and South Florida, reflects our continued commitment to the growth of our government relations work at the local, state and federal levels.”

“Senator Bogdanoff’s treasure trove of relationships in Palm Beach, Broward and throughout Florida will add significant new muscle to our lobbying team and law firm in Palm Beach and Broward Counties, and in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C.,” said Bernie Friedman, chair of the firm’s Government Law and Lobbying Practice Group. “She has a tremendous reputation as an obsessively well-prepared lawyer and lobbyist with powerful connections to make great things happen for clients and the community. Many of the firm’s lobbying clients in Broward are also looking to do business in Palm Beach. With the addition of Senator Bogdanoff we will be able to provide that service to clients across the county line.”

During her tenure in the State Legislature, Bogdanoff served as the majority whip under House Speaker Marco Rubio, chair of both the House and Senate Finance & Tax Committees, chair of the Joint Administrative Procedures Committee, chair of the Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations Committee, and a member of the Federal Judicial Nominating Committee. After leaving public office in 2012, Bogdanoff founded a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, government consulting and grassroots advocacy. Bogdanoff is active in many charities, pro-bono causes, and civic organizations.

She received a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management/Insurance with honors from the University of Florida and a law degree magna cum laude from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law School.
