With the goal of teaching students and the community about the violation of civil liberties that Japanese-Americans experienced during World War II, MDC’s Homestead Campus hosted a presentation on Dec. 2 to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the End of Japanese Internment during WWII. Japanese Consul General in Miami Shinji Nagashima helped lead the program. Delivering the keynote speech was MDC District Board of Trustess member Jose Keichi Fuentes, who is of Japanese descent. A longtime leader in government relations and advocacy with more than 25 years of experience, Fuentes is active on numerous local and national boards and has received several distinctions during his career.
