Alan Becker is a founding shareholder of the firm. He previously served as Managing Shareholder.

Alan continues to play an active role in the firm, working closely with the litigation, government law and lobbying, construction and international practice areas. He began his legal career in the Office of the Attorney General and as an Assistant Public Defender (1969–1972). From 1972–1978, Mr. Becker was a State Representative in the Florida Legislature. As a member of the Legislature and the Florida Law Revision Council (1975–1976), he was the principal author and/or sponsor of much of Florida’s housing legislation, including the Condominium Act as well as the Florida Corporation Act, Mechanic’s Lien Act, Evidence Code and more.

Florida Trend magazine has recognized Mr. Becker as a member of the “Legal Elite” every year since the award’s inception. As a member of the Legal Elite Hall of Fame, Alan is selected by peers as being in the top 2% of attorneys in his practice areas. He was also recognized by South Florida CEO Magazine as a member of South Florida’s “Power Elite” and by the South Florida Business Journal in 2012 as one of 100 Power Leaders. In addition, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America© from 2005–present, including 2018 “ Lawyer of the Year.” Florida Business Magazine named Alan as one of “Florida’s Legal Elite” in Business Law for 2016.

Alan Becker is a member the Enterprise Florida Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He served as Vice-Chair (2015-2017) working collaboratively with Governor Rick Scott (the Chair). Enterprise Florida is the official economic development organization for the State of Florida. In 2012, he was awarded the Governor’s Business Ambassador Medallion by Governor Rick Scott for his contributions to economic development in Florida. He also previously served as the Chair of the Beacon Council (2011-12), Miami-Dade County’s economic development agency. Mr. Becker was the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic (1992- 2016).

Alan taught “The Business of Law” at the University of Miami Law School (2015) and lectures on “Leadership” at Keiser University.
