Carissa Faña provides expertise in the areas of congressional and legislative affairs, acting as a liaison to members of Congress and a strategic advisor to a diverse portfolio of clients.
Prior to joining Becker, Carissa oversaw Intuit’s external relations and legislative matters, consulted with the U.S. Department of Labor under the Employment and Training Administration, Interlex Communications, and Exim Trade Solutions. As a strategic leader she has advanced clients’ portfolio by providing advocacy and education to help shape policy outcomes while addressing important business needs.
Ms. Faña served as the Senior Policy Advisor to the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators, a nonpartisan, membership-based organization representing over 350 Latino state legislators across the country — on issues pertinent to public policy impacting states and the Latino community. She also collaborated with the House Small Business Committee and the U.S. Trade office, overseeing a variety of Small Business programs.
Carissa also served as an Associate at the Dewey Square Group LLC — a premier national public affairs firm in Washington, DC. While there, she managed and led client accounts in the Latino market practice where she developed and executed community outreach strategies, built successful coalitions and was instrumental in furthering clients’ corporate social responsibility in their local community.
Prior to her work at Dewey Square Group, she served as a Legislative Assistant to the former Chairwoman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and current Ranking member of the House Small Business Committee, U.S. Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez.
Carissa is a member of the Hispanic Lobbyist Association (HLA), and PROSPANICA, formerly known as the National Society of Hispanic MBAs.
