What woman inspires you and why?
There are so many women that have inspired me throughout my life, but these are the ones that really stand out. First and foremost my mom, she sacrificed everything to bring me and my siblings to this country. She left her country, culture, and her family to provide us with a better life and opportunities. The other was a coworker I met in my late twenties who inspired me to pursue a career in HR. And most recently, my mentor, Annemarie Robbins who I met at the first law firm I worked. She provided the guidance I had missed earlier in my career and, among the many other things, she taught me to have patience and to be respectful, regardless of the situation.

If you could have dinner with anyone alive or dead, who would it be and why?
My mom and the coworker that inspired me to pursue a career in HR. Of course, there are many other people that have influenced who I am today, such as Martin Luther King. What he believed in and sacrificed should never be forgotten. The other is Ruth Bader Ginsburg, another figure in my lifetime who inspires us to be a better version of ourselves.

What advice (professional or personal) would you give your younger self?
Stop and smell the roses. I am still trying to take my own advice.

What led you to the legal industry and/or to your specific area?
I enjoy working with intelligent people. What better place to find smart people, if not in a law firm? I have always enjoyed employment law, so working in a law firm as head of HR kills two birds with one stone.

What has living through a global pandemic taught you?
I have helped lead the firm through several hurricanes, but COVID-19 was like nothing any of us have ever been through before. In tough times, you must lean on others and have a level head. We are more resilient than we think we are.
