Becker is delighted to announce that Shareholder Mary R. Hawk has been appointed as the Chairperson of the 12th Judicial Circuit Local Professionalism Panel. Established by the Florida Supreme Court in 2013, the Local Professional Panels operate within each judicial circuit to review complaints of unprofessional conduct within the legal profession.
Before her appointment as Chairperson, Ms. Hawk served on the 12th Judicial Circuit Local Professionalism Panel for several years. Each Local Professionalism Panel is comprised of 14 local attorneys, appointed by the chief judge of the circuit, and is responsible for determining whether the attorney would benefit from corrective measures or various programs offered by the Florida Bar. In cases of egregious conduct, the Panel has the authority to refer complaints to the Florida Bar Attorney Consumer Assistance and Intake Program.
Ms. Hawk previously served on and chaired the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the 12th Judicial Circuit (12B), and previously served as a Florida Bar Grievance Mediator and Attorney Fee Arbitrator.
Ms. Hawk is a shareholder in the firm’s community association practice group and is based out of the firm’s Bradenton office. She has been practicing in the Sarasota/Bradenton area since 1998. Ms. Hawk focuses her practice in the areas of general representation and dispute resolution for condominium, homeowner, cooperative, and mobile home associations. She is a Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator and Certified Arbitrator.
