Becker is proud to announce Broward County’s Stirling Road Library in Hollywood has been renamed the Marta-Beth Friedman Library in honor of Marta-Beth Friedman, a devoted advocate and volunteer for the Broward County Library and a cherished member of the Becker family. Marta-Beth, the wife of Bernie Friedman, Chair of Becker’s Government and Lobbying Practice, inspired everyone with her courage during her six-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

The renaming of the library was officially announced at the Broward County Commission meeting on September 5, 2024. During the meeting, both Bernie Friedman and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz spoke in support of the decision. A recording of the meeting can be viewed by clicking the video player above.

For over 20 years, Marta-Beth Friedman served as a dedicated member of the Broward County Library Advisory Board. She played a significant role in the establishment of two new branch libraries in Hollywood, her hometown. A passionate advocate for children’s programs, Marta-Beth worked tirelessly to foster connections between public libraries and educational institutions, ensuring that children had a safe and supportive environment to continue learning after school and benefit from library resources.

The Broward County Commission unanimously approved the renaming.
