Jie Chengying Xiu, Becker’s New York Corporate Shareholder, attended the Global Legal Alliance (GLA)’s Annual Conference 2019 in Singapore from November 5-7, 2019. she presented on the introduction of the U.S. capital markets and the fund-raising methods for Chinese companies, including IPO, RTO, SPAC and private placements.
GLA is a global legal service alliance and an international platform for legal professionals, of which Becker is a proud member. Mr. Victor DiGioia, Becker’s New York Managing Shareholder, was recently appointed as GLA’s Vice Chairman. GLA aims to develop into a public platform where global legal service providers are able to network, communicate, and cooperate with each other. The conference was well attended by senior lawyers, political officials, business leaders, tax and accounting professionals from over 40 countries and regions in the world. The speakers of the conference included Mr. Moses Cheng, Chairman of the Insurance Authority of Hong Kong, former Chairman of the Listing Committee of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong; Mr. Wen Chen, GLA co-chairman & the founder of Zonglun W&D Law Firm, China; Mr. Jikai Wu, the Political Counselor of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Singapore; Mr. Lester Huang JP, Managing Partner of P.C. Woo & Co. and Former President of the Law Society of Hong Kong; Mr. Jeremey Kleinfeld, co-chairman of GLA and senior partner of DKLM Solicitors, UK. This year, the conference’s theme is Cross-Border Investment under the Belt & Road Initiative. During the conference, international investment project cooperation, including U.S., China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Finland, Estonia, Russia, Bulgaria, Norway, Oman, Ireland, Congo, Italy, Brazil, Iraq, Canada, Africa, Spain, and Peru, were discussed and explored.
