Tom Code has a broad range of experience in the areas of civil litigation, complex and commercial litigation, arbitration, contract issues and corporate decision-making. Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, he has represented diverse business interests ranging from developers, contractors, and property owners to financial institutions, hotel owners, pharmaceutical companies and multinational companies in breach of contract, products liability, and other litigation.
As a Board Certified Construction lawyer, Tom focuses his practice on all aspects of construction law including construction-related disputes, negotiating and drafting agreements, handling payment and performance disputes, “turnover claims” and defective construction and building code violations.
EXPERIENCE
- Routinely handles multimillion dollar construction defect disputes on behalf of Condominium and Homeowners Associations.
- Prosecutes construction and accounting “turnover claims” involving the transition of control of buildings and improvements from developer entities to condominium or homeowners associations.
- As an expert in construction law, negotiates and drafts construction contracts on behalf of owners, and counsels them in the areas of insurance, coverage, general liability, risk management, including disaster preparedness and reconstruction.
