Overview
Tia Mitchell is an attorney in Becker’s Morristown, New Jersey office, where she practices in the firm’s Condo, Co-Op, and Homeowners’ Association Group. She counsels condominium and homeowners’ associations on a wide range of legal matters, including governance, compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, contract review, and dispute resolution.
Before joining Becker, Tia served as a law clerk to the Honorable Stephen Taylor, Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Morris County. In this role, she drafted opinions, researched complex evidentiary and constitutional issues, managed motion and sentencing calendars, and regularly observed court proceedings including trials, hearings, and sentencings.
During law school, Tia gained experience as a Maida Summer Fellow at the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office where she represented the State in detention hearings, municipal appeals, and first appearances. She also contributed to appellate division briefs and Megan’s Law classifications. At Rutgers Law School, Tia served as Editor-in-Chief of the International Law & Human Rights Journal, where her published work explored the recognition of “ecocide” as an international crime.
