Attorney Steven B. Lesser Named a Fellow of The American College of Construction Lawyers

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL, November 27, 2013 – Becker & Poliakoff is proud to announce that Steven B. Lesser, chair of the firm’s Construction Law & Litigation Practice group, has been named a fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers (ACCL).

Fellowship is extended by invitation to those who are found to have mastered the practice or the teaching of construction law and dispute resolution, whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, scholarship, professionalism and collegiality, and who have demonstrated a commitment to “give back” to the construction industry. The College has a limited membership of fewer than 200 lawyers from the United States, Canada, Britain, Australia, and France.

Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar, Mr. Lesser devotes his practice exclusively to construction law and litigation and has substantial experience representing owners, developers, contractors, design professionals, and government entities in a variety of construction.

Mr. Lesser has established a national reputation as one of the leading construction lawyers in the country and is widely recognized for his work in support of continuing professional education in the practice of construction law.

Mr. Lesser is Chair-elect of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry. The Forum is a nationally prestigious organization known for its scholarly publications and programs focusing on developments and trends in construction law. He also serves as Chair of the Construction Law Certification Committee of the Florida Bar, which is responsible for establishing standards for board certification of construction lawyers in Florida including the preparation and grading of the certification exam.

Mr. Lesser is also a Florida Certified Circuit Civil Mediator focusing on complex construction matters involving defective work and delay related claims and a certified arbitrator on construction issues for the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Lesser is AV Rated Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, and was named “Construction Lawyer of the Year” for 2011 for South Florida by Best Lawyers in America, a peer review rating publication for legal professionals. He was one of only two lawyers in Florida to receive the designation and the only one in South Florida.
