Becker and Backpack Barber Foundation Help the Fort Lauderdale Homeless
October 3, 2018 — Fort Lauderdale, FL – For National Hair and Haircut Day, The Backpack Barber Foundation offered homeless men and women free professional haircuts at Broward Library’s tent city as well as a backpack with hygiene products. Broward Partnership also provided on-site resources and over 50 people received haircuts.
Becker shareholder Jeremy Sahn sits on the executive board of the newly created Backpack Barber Foundation, an initiative founded by local barber Greg Young to help address the growing homeless issue in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Sahn noted, “Becker is proud to be assisting The Foundation as a central supporter, handling all of their corporate paperwork and filings. The Foundation gives back to the community and inspires those less fortunate to improve their lives. Having a fresh haircut can do wonders for a person’s self-esteem.”
The event received local media coverage and the Foundation hopes to have quarterly events to raise awareness and expand its mission to help get more homeless individuals off the streets.
