Becker Closes on Sale of Historic Building Pro Bono for Gilda’s Club South Florida

Becker & PoliakoffBecker, a multi-practice commercial law firm with attorneys, lobbyists, and other professionals at offices throughout the East Coast, announced that it represented Gilda’s Club South Florida pro bono during the sale of its historic headquarters to new owners 119 Rose Drive FTL. The $1.7M transaction closed at the end of July.

Gilda’s Club South Florida is the second oldest Gilda’s Club affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, providing support, education and hope to people impacted by cancer, family members and friends of those diagnosed, children, and those who have lost someone to cancer in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

Gilda’s Club South Florida had outgrown their space, as the population of patients diagnosed with cancer in the areas they serve has increased. Additionally, the pandemic brought in so many new patients that they were not able to accommodate their staff and in-person services safely.

Kim Praitano, President and CEO of Gilda’s Club South Florida said, “We could not have sold our beloved property without the assistance of lawyers from Becker – there is so much work that goes into the sale of a commercial property and we are extremely grateful.”

Becker’s Jon Polenberg, who also serves on the board as the treasurer of Gilda’s Club South Florida, added, “Our real estate attorneys were delighted to donate their legal expertise to such a worthy cause. By providing pro bono representation in this matter, Gilda’s can continue to focus on providing even more support for those battling cancer in South Florida.”

The Becker team included Philip Rosen, Jon Polenberg, Evan Rosenberg, and Jeremy Shir.
