FT. LAUDERDALE, FL, July 7, 2011 – Becker & Poliakoff, P.A. today announced that attorney Mark J. Stempler, who practices Construction and Commercial Litigation Law in the firm’s West Palm Beach office, has earned the “LEED Green Associate” credential from the U.S. Green Building Council.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized green building certification that provides third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance. The LEED Green Associate certification is awarded to professionals who demonstrate the ability to understand and support green design, construction, and operations.

Mr. Stempler represents clients in many sectors of the construction industry, including general contractors, subcontractors, developers, design professionals, sureties, and manufacturers. He is also active in the government procurement arena, representing private companies doing business with government agencies during the solicitation, bidding, negotiation and protest process. He has published more than a dozen articles on bidding procedures and protests.

Mr. Stempler received his JD Degree Cum Laude from the Florida International University College of Law and his BS degree from the University of Miami. Prior to attending law school Mr. Stempler was a television news writer and producer.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in March 2000, LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
