CORAL GABLES, May 30, 2013 – Becker & Poliakoff is proud to announce that Jose Keichi Fuentes, a government relations consultant in the firm’s Government Law & Lobbying Group, has been appointed to head the Government Affairs Group of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Group works in conjunction with the Chamber’s substantive committees for the development of its State and Federal Legislative Packages on issues that impact the South Florida community as a business center. The Group also cultivates and strengthens relationships between the Chamber’s membership and elected and appointed officials in South Florida, Tallahassee and Washington, D.C.
Mr. Fuentes is well-known in political circles as a leading provider of strategic lobbying, and business development solutions in Florida. Among others, his client list includes the cities of Homestead, Miami Lakes and Miami Springs as well as All Aboard Florida, VE Restaurant Group, and AMEC Engineering.
He specializes in representing local municipalities, other public bodies and private sector clients in environmental, infrastructure and water resources at the federal, state and local levels.
Appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Board of Trustees of Miami-Dade College, Mr. Fuentes also is a board member of the City of Miami Waterfront Advisory Board, City Year Miami and St. Thomas University. He is a member of the Mayor’s International Council and serves on the Executive Committee of the Miami-Dade County Republican Party. Mr. Fuentes is past Chairman of both United Home Care Services and the Miami-Dade County Asian American Advisory Board.
In the past, Mr. Fuentes served as Director of Hispanic Affairs for the Cuban American Legislators from Miami-Dade County, Legislative Aide for Rep. Rudy Garcia, Director of the Office of the Speaker of the Florida House, Assistant to U.S. Senator Connie Mack, Government Liaison to the Board of County Commissioners, and Regional Director of Miami-Dade County’s South Florida Water Management District.
Mr. Fuentes previously served as Managing Partner of The Fuentes & Rodriguez Consulting Group, which merged with Becker & Poliakoff in 2013.
