Becker & Poliakoff’s Jeremy Shir Appointed to Board of Directors of the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – December 14, 2016 – Becker & Poliakoff today announced that Jeremy Shir, a lawyer-lobbyist in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Government Law & Lobbying Practice Group, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. His three-year term begins January 1, 2017.

The Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce represents local business interests, promotes economic growth, provides leadership in community affairs and delivers services and programs for its business members. As a member of its board of directors, Shir will work to forward its mission to act as an advocate for Greater Hollywood’s business and professional community and promote the quality of life for the people of Greater Hollywood.

At Becker & Poliakoff, Shir focuses his practice on lobbying and land-use issues, guiding developers through the approval process with issues such as site plan approvals, re-zonings, variances, special exceptions, conditional use permits, developer agreements and local government negotiations. He is deeply involved with various civic and industry organizations, including serving as co-chair of the Broward Young Leaders Group of the Urban Land Institute; treasurer of the Broward Young Democrats; co-chair of the Broward County Bar Association Legislative Committee; and co-chair of the Democratic Professionals Network. Shir received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Washington University in St. Louis and his law degree from the University of Miami.
