Becker & Poliakoff’s Steven B. Lesser Appointed To American Bar Association’s Standing Committee On Specialization

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – August 23, 2016 – Steven B. Lesser, a shareholder at the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office of law firm Becker & Poliakoff and chair of the firm’s Construction Law and Litigation Practice Group, has been appointed by the President of the American Bar Association, Linda A. Klein to serve on the ABA Standing Committee on Specialization.

In this role, he will work with fellow committee members to advance its mission to promote and oversee the ABA’s specialist certification programs to enhance attorneys’ credentials. His three-year term began on August 9. Currently, he serves on The Florida Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization and Education which oversees all of the 25 certification areas of legal practice in Florida.

Lesser’s long history of involvement in legal education and specialization initiatives includes extensive writing, lecturing and serving in leadership positions of the American and Florida bar associations. He is past chair of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Construction Law and a past chair of The Florida Bar’s Construction Law Certification Committee. He also is a fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers.

Board-Certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar, Lesser focuses his practice at Becker & Poliakoff exclusively on construction law and litigation. Lesser also is a Florida Certified Circuit Civil Mediator focusing on complex construction matters involving defective work and delay-related claims and a certified arbitrator on construction issues for the American Arbitration Association.

Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field of law and to the community. Earlier this year, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Construction Law Committee of The Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Section. His community involvement includes actively serving and supporting charitable programs for special-needs children and young adults.
