Becker Provides Pro Bono Construction Law Services For Christian Service Center in Orlando

August 20, 2024, Orlando, FL – Becker, a multi-practice commercial law firm with offices throughout the East Coast, is proud to provide pro bono construction law services for development and renovation of the Christian Service Center (CSC) property in the historic Parramore District in Orlando. Through national nonprofit Building for Good, Becker has been tapped to provide these services to the CSC for its design-build agreement between the CSC and Batia Construction.

The CSC has been awarded a $5 million grant from the City of Orlando to renovate its day services facilities to allow unsheltered homeless an opportunity to receive a meal, to care for themselves and their possessions, and to rest in a safe environment. The City of Orlando’s Accelerate Orlando Project is providing funds to help alleviate the impact of homelessness throughout the City.

Becker’s Claramargaret Groover represents the CSC and advises its leadership on the design and construction issues related to the design-build agreement.  She served as Board president in the early 2000’s and remains involved. She noted, “This is a wonderful way to help the CSC, which has been helpful to so many fighting poverty in Central Florida. I am proud that Becker and Building for Good are committed and involved.”

The Christian Service Center for Central Florida, Inc.  is a 50+-year old, non-sectarian, non-profit that seeks to mobilize the Central Florida community under one common mission to eradicate homelessness and poverty by providing services and resources that foster hope, well-being, and empowerment.

Building for Good is a national platform linking charities and nonprofits with limited budgets with skilled construction lawyers. Becker’s Construction Law and Litigation Practice Chair, Steven B. Lesser, currently serves as Chair of the Development Committee. They recruit qualified construction attorneys who want to provide pro bono legal services, and charitable organizations in need of construction-related legal services, to pair them based on financial need and appropriate legal skills.

Becker is deeply invested in the communities we live and work in and recognize that their success is our success. Through firm initiative Becker Gives Back, we partner with a variety of organizations that are helping to build a brighter future for our neighborhoods. Together, through charitable giving, volunteer work, pro bono service, and nonprofit leadership efforts we continuously strive to make a lasting impact.
