Milan, 15 July 2025 – Becker, an independent U.S. law firm with a European hub in Milan, has signed a strategic agreement with ASSICA – the Italian Meat and Cured Meats Industry Association (Confindustria) – to support Italian companies in the sector as they expand and strengthen their commercial and institutional presence in the U.S. market.

The multi-year agreement comes in an international context shaped by both new challenges and significant opportunities, as Italian agri-food exports show increasing interest in the United States. Becker will provide its legal, diplomatic, and institutional expertise—offering not only legal counsel but also direct access to key members of Congress and federal agencies through its lobbying activities. A key objective of the partnership is to enhance dialogue with the many Italian institutions operating in the U.S., which play a crucial role in connecting Italy’s top industry players with over 18 million Americans of Italian descent.

Our partnership with ASSICA was established with the ambition to go beyond the mere facilitation of institutional relations,” said Gabriel Monzon Cortarelli, Chair of the International Practice Group, Europe and Latin America at Becker. “We aim to build a long-term strategic dialogue that promotes the authenticity, quality, and sustainability of Italian products in the U.S. Our established presence on both sides of the Atlantic allows us to fully understand the needs of Italian companies and provide targeted, operational support to help them navigate the regulatory and commercial challenges of the American market.”

“The growing importance of the U.S. market for Italian cured meat products has led the Association to take direct action in creating the best possible commercial conditions for its member companies. The agreement with Becker will enable us to engage directly with both members of Congress and U.S. institutions, with the aim of providing adequate political and technical support to the many Italian businesses exporting to the United States,” said Davide Calderone, Director of Assica.

“At Becker, we understand that international expansion isn’t just about entering a new market—it’s about building the right relationships and anticipating regulatory complexities before they become obstacles,” said Amanda L. Wood, Senior Director of Becker’s Government Law & Lobbying practice. “This partnership with ASSICA reflects our commitment to helping Italian companies thrive in the U.S. with strategic advocacy on Capitol Hill and beyond.”

The collaboration between Becker and ASSICA benefits from a favorable political climate, reinforced by the relationship between the Italian Government and the U.S. Administration. It aims to ensure that Italy’s top producers in the sector are recognized overseas as reliable, strategic, and competitive partners.
