Becker Spreads Holiday Cheer to Children Through Its Charity “Helping Hands”

Helping HandsFORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Santa and his team of colorful characters spread some holiday cheer to kids who need it most this week – patients at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Toy deliveries came to children who’ll be spending Christmas in a hospital bed. With ringing bells and clattering carts, Becker volunteers spread smiles with the help of Scooby Doo, Elmo, Snow White, and Winnie the Pooh.

This year’s Becker and Poliakoff Helping Hands toy delivery, now in its sixteenth year, touched 40 children in several hospital wards, including cancer and surgical patients. Children ranging in age from babies to teenagers smiled as characters burst into rooms while a hearty “Ho, Ho, Ho” bounced off the walls. A total of fourteen volunteers from the Fort Lauderdale and Miami Becker offices took part.

“It’s just thrilling to watch the faces light up the moment a costumed character enters the room,” said Shareholder Lee Weintraub, who helped found the charity program. “We really want to expand this joy to as many kids as possible.”

You don’t have to wait until next year to do your part. Helping Hands delivers toys and joy year round and statewide. Please don’t forget the hospitalized children outside the winter holidays – when most other toy drives stop operations.
