On March 27, 2015, the University of Florida Levin College of Law presented its 2015 Sports Law Symposium, featuring Rand Getlin (award-winning investigative journalist and the NFL Insider for Yahoo Sports) and Erik Burkhardt (one of the top NFL player agents) as keynote speakers. The symposium consisted of four moderated panels addressing the latest legal developments in the U.S. sports industry.
Becker & Poliakoff shareholder, Daniel Wallach, participated on the panel entitled “Sports Gambling & Fantasy Sports,” which addressed recent efforts to legalize sports wagering amidst the growing phenomenon of daily fantasy sports. The panel also discussed the current legal environment for fantasy sports, with Dan clarifying Florida’s stance on the issue. Joining Dan on the panel were Darren Heitner (the moderator), Gabe Feldman (Director of the Sports Law Program at Tulane University Law School) and Ryan Rodenberg (Assistant Professor of Sports Law at Florida State University).
