FORT WALTON BEACH, FL, June 14 – Becker & Poliakoff, a diversified commercial law firm with 125 attorneys in 13 Florida offices, New York City, New Jersey, Nassau (Bahamas) and Prague, announced that the Florida Bar has awarded Board Certification in the area of Civil Trial Law to attorney John Cottle, who practices in the firm’s Fort Walton Beach office. Board Certification recognizes Mr. Cottle’s special knowledge, skills and proficiency in this area of law as well as his professionalism and ethics.

Board certification is the Florida Bar’s highest level of recognition of an attorney’s competency and experience in one or more of the 24 areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. Only attorneys who have earned the Florida Bar’s “board-certification” distinction are allowed to describe themselves as legal specialists or experts in a specific field of practice.

Mr. Cottle has been practicing law in Florida and Alabama for over 30 years concentrating in the area of disputes involving real estate, business and other matters. A vocal advocate for condominium and community associations regarding their rights after a disaster, Mr. Cottle recently co-authored “The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill,” published in the Florida Community Association Journal, June 2010. Mr. Cottle has over 40 reported cases in Florida and Alabama.

Mr. Cottle is a graduate of The University of Alabama Law School (J.D.) and Birmingham Southern College (B.S.).
