LaToya Sheals Recognized in INFLUENCE Magazine for Advocacy on Behalf of Florida’s Private Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)

Becker’s LaToya Sheals has earned a featured spot in INFLUENCE Magazine, highlighting her efforts supporting Florida’s Private Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The article is part of the magazine’s “Fourth Floor Files” section.

LaToya played an instrumental role in securing a record $30 million in recurring funding for Florida’s Private HBCUs, namely Edward Waters University, Bethune Cookman University, and Florida Memorial University. This achievement holds a special place in her heart; as an HBCU graduate, she said, “It was an honor to secure those dollars, as I know how beneficial it would be to the students and the universities.”

In addition to her accomplishments in advocating for education, the feature also offers insights into LaToya’s favorite charitable causes, her favorite pro-bono client, cherished last-day-of-Session traditions, and her top choices for the first four guests to invite to a morning talk show centered on Florida politics.
