“On the Board: Privacy Protected” – Common Ground

As a board member, do you know how to protect your privacy and avoid exposure when faced with a lawsuit? Becker Shareholder Jack Kallus shares his expertise for “On the Board,” a column in Common Ground: CAI’s magazine for Community Association Leaders.

Jack offers several tips on privacy protection such as creating a separate email address for association business only. He adds that you may want to opt for third party services like WhatsApp instead of using your phone’s data for text messaging. Another way to protect your privacy is to think before you communicate and to be careful with all the information you share. And finally, board members should avoid taking photographs on their association’s phone and also avoid using public internet connections.
