Nicholas Hessing is a Senior Government Relations Consultant in Becker’s Fort Lauderdale office, where he leverages extensive experience in public policy, community engagement, and government relations to help clients navigate complex legislative and regulatory environments. Prior to joining Becker, Nicholas served as Government Affairs Manager for the Children’s Services Council of Broward County, advocating on behalf of the $160 million governmental entity and its network of more than 100 funded agencies. His policy background spans foster care, children’s health insurance, special districts, and state appropriations.
Nicholas began his career in the Florida House of Representatives as a Legislative Aide, where he helped support efforts to expand tenant protections known as “Miya’s Law,” study Florida’s flood preparedness, and expand Florida KidCare. He has also managed multiple political campaigns, including the successful re-elections of former Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book and Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis, cultivating strong relationships with influencers throughout Broward County and a sharp instinct for strategic communications.
Deeply committed to community service, Nicholas currently serves on the Oakland Park Planning and Zoning Board and as a Guardian ad Litem in Florida’s 17th Judicial Circuit, advocating for the best interests of children in the dependency system. He is Vice Chair of United Way Broward’s Public Policy Advisory Committee and previously co-chaired the Broward AWARE! Campaign, leading countywide efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect.
