Jie Chengying Xiu focuses her practice on corporate, securities, mergers and acquisitions and a broad range of business and commercial matters. She represents complex, high-profile M&A and securities offering projects across the globe, including East and Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America. She regularly counsels multinational corporations and high-net-worth individuals in transactions ranging from billion-dollar M&A transactions to start-up financings, and guides a large number of companies in their listings on NASDAQ, NYSE and OTC Markets through IPO and RTO. Jie is also a leader of the firm’s China practice.
What woman inspires you and why?
All mothers, daughters, sisters, no matter at what age they are, inspire me. Their deep and selfless love and strength for others never fails to inspire me and encourages me to do better myself.
If you could have dinner with anyone alive or dead, who would it be and why?
All great thought leaders in the world who have held high the torch of light for mankind to march for a more open, free and civilized society. It would be a great honor to have a chat with them over dinner!
What advice (professional or personal) would you give your younger self?
Do not worry. Follow your passion, love what you do, and the way will unfold.
What led you to the practice of law and/or to your specific area of law?
I love the practice of law. I believe this profession is the best combination of my capabilities, interests and the interest of serving a greater social good. Fifty years from now, when I look back on my choices over life, this is certainly a choice I will never regret. I will continue to practice in the capital markets and M&A field as I believe my work is helping businesses and the many people who make a living through them to build an economy that will benefit everyone.
What has living through a global pandemic taught you?
Having to live through a global pandemic is painful, but the experience is equally inspiring. Through this experience, I have witnessed boundless love, understanding, compassion and strength. It is a great testimony to our unlimited human potential. There is no challenges or difficulties we cannot overcome by standing together with hope and courage.
