Steven B. Lesser Appointed as American Bar Association’s Chair of the Standing Committee on Specialization

Lesser, Chair of the firm’s national Construction Law and Litigation practice group, has been appointed as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Specialization, which approves accreditation of lawyers nationally.

The American Bar Association (ABA) recognizes legal specialties in bankruptcy, trial advocacy, medical liability, privacy and 10 other areas. Approximately 30,000 attorneys in the United States are certified specialists under various programs and states ultimately determine whether lawyers can claim legal specialization.

Mr. Lesser will serve a one-year term that begins on August 4, 2020.

Mr. Lesser also serves as Chair of The Florida Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization and Education (“BLSE”) which administers the Bar’s certification plan and provides oversight over all 27 certification committees that each focus upon a specific practice area. As part of its mission, the BLSE helps identify for the general public and the profession those attorneys who have substantial experience and have demonstrated special knowledge, skills, and proficiency in certified areas of practice , professionalism and ethics in the practice of law.

He is past Chair of the ABA Forum on Construction Law the largest construction lawyer organization in the world . He is also a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers and has received many distinguished awards from the Florida Bar and American Bar Associations for his work in the construction industry.
