Women’s History Month–Meet the Women of Becker: Mabel Alamina

In honor of Women’s History Month, Becker is celebrating the incredible women attorneys and lobbyists whose expertise, leadership, and dedication elevate both our firm and the clients we serve. This year, we’re proud to highlight the achievements of longstanding women team members across various departments, recognizing their impact and contributions over the years.

Mabel Alamina has worked in Becker’s Miami office for nearly 40 years. As the Practice Administrator for the Firm’s Community Association and Collection Foreclosure Departments, she manages day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient administrative and legal support.

What inspired you to pursue a career at Becker?

I joined Becker through a part-time High School program called FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America).  From the very start, I was inspired by Becker’s commitment to supporting employee growth. I knew it would be a place where I could contribute meaningfully while also growing professionally. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to grow and take on new challenges in different roles. I’ve always appreciated how Becker continuously challenges me while ensuring my contributions are valued.

Is there a woman—past or present—who has inspired you in your career or life?

My mother, Martha, has been my biggest inspiration. She showed me how to balance hard work with family life while maintaining grace under pressure. Her work ethic, resilience, and determination have been qualities I strive to emulate every day.

If you could have lunch with any woman in history, who would it be and why?

Queen Elizabeth II.  Her long and impactful reign as a monarch is a testament to her leadership and dedication to duty.  From WWII to the rise of technology and the shifting global dynamics, she would have unparalleled insights into the major turning points in history.

What’s a mantra or quote that motivates you daily?

My daily mantra is, “I am deeply grateful for the love, support, and strength of my family. They are my foundation and my greatest blessing.”

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“Always trust your instincts; they’re usually right.”  This advice from my dad has been invaluable.  It’s helped me to trust my own judgment and intuition when making decisions.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

I left Cuba when I was just 3 years old and lived several years in Spain before finally moving to the U.S. with my family. It’s been an incredible journey of adapting to new cultures and experiences that have shaped who I am today.
