ORLANDO, FL, August 10, 2011 – Becker & Poliakoff, a diversified commercial law firm with more than 145 attorneys and lobbyists in offices in Florida, New York City, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and internationally, today announced that attorney Claramargaret H. Groover has joined the firm in the Construction Law & Litigation practice group in the Maitland office.

Florida Board Certified in Construction Law, Ms. Groover focuses her practice on providing litigation and claims avoidance services and has represented a wide range of construction industry participants, including large public and private construction owners, architects, engineers, surveyors, construction manager agents, constructors, suppliers, and their insurers and surety companies.

Her experience spans from early stage land development, design consultant contracting, bidding, and construction contract execution, through to contract close-out and claims resolution representation in mediation, arbitration and litigation. Additionally, she counsels clients regarding contractor licensing issues and has provided representation in administrative actions before licensing boards.

Prior to joining Becker & Poliakoff, Ms. Groover served as full-time in-house counsel to the world’s leading general aviation service provider where she focused her time on real estate leasing at over 30 domestic airports and assisted with construction contracting and claims resolution for various projects including general aviation terminals and airport fuel facilities projects. Ms. Groover also was involved in analyzing and addressing other operational, corporate, and risk management concerns.

Ms. Groover also served as Director of Legal Affairs for a world class theme park developer during the period it was engaged in a $2.5B Central Florida park expansion.

Ms. Groover serves on the Board of Directors for National Semi-Trailer Corporation, a 35 year old Orlando-based corporation, which is a market leader in overland trailer leasing and sales. She is active in several professional and community organizations including: College Park Neighborhood Association, Christian Service Center Board of Directors, Orange County Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise Advisory Board, Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers and Rollins College – Paralegal Studies Advisory Board

Ms. Groover is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit and Appellate Mediator. She has been named to the Florida Super Lawyers listing for three consecutive years and is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubble.
