Becker Federal Lobbying Team Welcomes Newest Client, Hennepin County, Minnesota

Becker & PoliakoffBecker, a multi-practice commercial law firm with attorneys, lobbyists, and other professionals at offices throughout the East Coast, announced its representation of Hennepin County, Minnesota, and its subsidiary corporation, Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc., in Washington, DC, before Congress, the White House and with various federal agencies, beginning January 1, 2021.

With over 1.2 million residents, Hennepin County is the most populous county in Minnesota and home to the state’s largest city, Minneapolis.

Becker’s Government Relations team will be led by veteran federal lobbyist Amanda Wood, and includes Omar Franco, Clarence Williams, Anthony Bedell, and Senior Advisor Ron Hamm of Hamm Consulting Group.

Becker team leader Amanda Wood remarked, “While Minnesota is a new state for our federal team, we are excited to bring our wealth of hands-on knowledge, vast network of relationships and the group’s fresh energy and perspective to Hennepin County’s priority issues and federal programs relating to safety net health services, transportation funding, health and human services, climate change, criminal justice and housing and other public works.”

Ms. Wood continued, “We believe that one of the key reasons that Hennepin County chose Becker was because of our longstanding emphasis and commitment to diversity. We strongly believe that quality advocacy in today’s world requires an intrinsic understanding of the unique needs and goals of diverse communities, including that of Hennepin County.”

Government Law and Lobbying has been a core practice for Becker since its founding in 1973. The firm’s team of lawyers and lobbyists includes several who have served in high-level government positions and distinguished themselves in the political and legislative arenas in state, local, and federal government. Becker’s federal practice began in 2011 with the addition of two Capitol Hill Chiefs of Staff and the Legislative Director of a US Senator. The bipartisan powerhouse team has quickly grown the practice to eight lobbyists.
