Becker & Poliakoff Attorneys Named to 2014 Florida Trend Legal Elite

FT. LAUDERDALE, July 29, 2014 – Becker & Poliakoff is proud to announce that five of its shareholders were named to the 2014 edition of Florida Trend’s Legal Elite listing. The attorneys chosen by their peers for this recognition are considered among the top two percent of lawyers practicing within the state.

Joseph E. Adams, managing partner of the firm’s Southwest Florida office, Alan S. Becker, founding shareholder, and Steven B. Lesser, chair of the firm’s Construction Law Practice, were once again listed in the “Legal Elite Hall of Fame,” an honor given to attorneys who have been consistently ranked in the top tier of Legal Elite voting.

Additionally, the prestigious Legal Elite recognition was bestowed upon Community Association Law Practice group members Jane L. Cornett and Kenneth S. Direktor.

Mr. Adams has practiced law in Southwest Florida since 1987. He concentrates his practice on representing condominium, cooperative and homeowners’ associations, as well as country clubs, mobile home communities and amenities associations such as marinas and golf courses.

Mr. Becker, who directed management, operations, business development, recruitment and strategic planning as managing shareholder for the firm until 2012, today works closely with the firm’s litigation, government law & lobbying, construction and international practice areas.

Mr. Lesser is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar and devotes his practice exclusively to construction law and litigation. He serves as the chair of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry, a nationally prestigious organization devoted entirely to members of the construction industry.

Ms. Cornett has practiced law in Martin County since 1981. She currently represents more than 325 associations in Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Palm Beach counties. She was a Senior Partner in Cornett, Googe & Associates, P.A. prior to joining Becker & Poliakoff.

Mr. Direktor leads the firm’s Community Association Practice Group which includes over 40 attorneys. He personally represents communities from Miami to Vero Beach focusing on representation of condominium, homeowners and cooperative associations and country clubs.

The Florida Legal Elite nomination process is open to all current members of the Florida Bar. Active attorneys were asked to name the attorneys that they hold in highest regard as professionals – lawyers with whom they have personally worked and would recommend to others.

Florida Trend magazine recognizes attorneys across 24 different practice areas ranging from Appellate Practice to Real Estate.
