Becker & Poliakoff Names Gary C. Rosen Managing Shareholder

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL, January 26, 2012 – Becker & Poliakoff, a diversified commercial law firm with more than 145 attorneys and lobbyists in Florida, New York City, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and internationally, today announced that it has elected Gary C. Rosen as its managing shareholder. Mr. Rosen will assume the firm’s management responsibilities from co-founder Alan Becker on February 1, 2012.

Since joining the firm in 1982, Mr. Rosen has played a leading role in the recruitment, marketing and overall management of the firm. Rosen led the reorganization of Becker & Poliakoff’s practices into several clearly defined and structured groups and chaired the firm’s strategic visioning initiative. In addition, he was instrumental in opening the firm’s New York City and New Jersey offices, which focus on corporate and securities practices and recently added community association law, one of the firm’s core areas of practice.

Mr. Rosen is a Board Certified Business Litigation attorney who has handled complex litigation in state and federal courts in Florida and throughout the United States. He has extensive trial experience and has obtained several multimillion dollar jury verdicts, judgments and settlements on behalf of clients.

“I’m honored by this new responsibility and look forward to strengthening our offering for our clients through continued growth of our seven core practices,” said Mr. Rosen. “I am committed to continuing the sound policies that have enabled our firm to expand outside of Florida and grow during a time when the legal industry as a whole has been contracting.”

As managing shareholder Mr. Rosen will draw upon his leadership experience within the firm as a member of its Management Committee since its creation in 2006 and chair of the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group from 2000 to 2011.

“Over the last two decades Gary has proven his value to our clients through his sharp intellect and aggressive advocacy, and he has demonstrated his leadership abilities to help achieve our vision of innovative service delivery, strong firm culture, and expansion throughout the United States to meet the growing needs of our clients,” said Alan Becker.

Mr. Becker remains an active shareholder and will continue to develop the firm’s relationship with the business and civic communities. Currently, he serves as chairman of the Beacon Council, Miami Dade County’s economic development agency and is a member of the board of directors of Enterprise Florida, the state’s public/private economic development organization.

Mr. Rosen received his J.D. Degree from Catholic University and his B.A. Degree from Brandeis University. He was appointed by the Florida Supreme Court to the Committee on Standard Jury Instructions – Contract and Business Cases. He is a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only, trial lawyer honorary society comprised of the most experienced and effective litigators throughout the United States. Locally, he is an active member of the United Way of Broward County’s Finance Committee. He previously served as the Associate Editor, Commercial Litigation, Florida Academy of Trial Lawyers’ Journal.

Mr. Rosen is regularly recognized for his accomplishments by leading attorney peer review ratings services. Florida Trend magazine recognized Mr. Rosen among its “Legal Elite” in the area of Business Litigation. This designation was based upon a poll of Florida attorneys, who selected peers in the top 2% of their respective practice areas. Mr. Rosen also was selected as a “Florida Super Lawyer” by Thomson Reuters which named Florida’s top lawyers as chosen by their peers.
