Becker & Poliakoff Names Three Attorneys To Partnership

FT. LAUDERDALE, February 11, 2014 – Becker & Poliakoff is pleased to announce that it has promoted three attorneys in two of the firm’s practice groups to the firm partnership.

“This group of new partners are the top practitioners in their respective fields,” said Gary Rosen, managing partner of the law firm Becker & Poliakoff.  “They are highly talented individuals who continue to demonstrate their dedication to our clients, the firm, and our communities.”

The newly named partners are: Construction Law & Litigation Practice: Aaron J. Pruss (Ft. Myers); Edward C. Lohrer (Ft. Lauderdale). Government Law & Lobbying Practice: Marcie Oppenheimer Nolan (Ft. Lauderdale).

Marcie Oppenheimer Nolan
Ms. Nolan is an experienced land use and zoning attorney/land planner who concentrates her practice on all aspects of local government issues with a focus on land planning projects from site acquisition, due diligence, site design, and governmental entitlements through to permitting and construction.

Ms. Nolan has extensive experience in land use plan amendments, land development code changes, re-zonings, variances, conditional uses, special exceptions, and site plan approvals. She is also involved in local infrastructure projects including water reclamation and transit oriented projects for public and private sector clients. Her prior experience includes working as a certified planner for the Town of Davie, City of Sunrise, and City of Greenacres.

Edward C. Lohrer
Mr. Lohrer is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar and has significant experience representing owners, developers, associations, contractors, design professionals, and governmental entities in a variety of construction related litigation. He handles issues involving contractual disputes, delay, defect, design and warranty claims, payment and performance bond claims and Florida’s construction lien law throughout the state.

AV Preeminent Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Lohrer served in the United States Army and continues to serve in the Army Reserves. As a private lawyer, he works with veterans in the community by serving on United Way’s Mission United Advisory Committee and its Legal subcommittee.

Aaron J. Pruss
Mr. Pruss is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Construction Law. He possesses extensive knowledge and experience in multiple areas of construction law, including litigation of construction-related disputes and negotiation and drafting of contracts for various delivery methods. Mr. Pruss’ broad legal background also includes first-chair litigation of complex civil and commercial disputes and the drafting and negotiation of various real estate, property management and commercial contracts.
