Kathleen O. Berkey Appointed to Board of Directors of Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Kathleen “Katie” O. Berkey, Esq., AICP, Shareholder and Certified Land Planner with Becker & Poliakoff, was invited to join the Board of Directors of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida (MMBFL), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving infant health through the collection, processing, and distribution of donor human milk. The organization’s mission is to promote health and healing by providing safe donor milk to vulnerable infants when a mother’s own milk is not available.
Berkey brings both professional expertise and a deeply personal connection to the organization. A former Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida donor and the first donor in Lee County, she donated breast milk during multiple periods between 2015 and 2021 and has long been an advocate for programs that support the health and well-being of children and families.
“I am honored to join the Board of Directors of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida,” said Berkey. “As a former donor, I have seen firsthand the impact donor human milk can have on premature and medically fragile infants and their families. I look forward to further supporting the organization’s mission, increasing awareness of milk banking, and helping expand access to this life-saving resource throughout Florida.”
Berkey is a Board-Certified Attorney in City, County, and Local Government Law and is recognized as an expert in land use planning and zoning matters throughout Florida. She serves as Chair of the Urban Land Institute Southwest Florida District Council and has been active in numerous civic and charitable organizations across the region.
