LaToya Sheals Named in Inaugural Florida Above & Beyond List

City & State Florida and the News Service of Florida announce the Above & Beyond list, which recognizes women trailblazers who have distinguished themselves in government, business, nonprofits, media, health care and other high-profile fields.

Becker is proud to announce that our very own LaToya Sheals was named in the inaugural class!

LaToya has secured funding in the nonprofit space, acquiring $30 million for Florida’s private Historically Black Colleges and Universities, over $8 million for the Foundation of Sickle Cell Disease Research, and millions of dollars for other municipalities and organizations throughout Florida.

Firm founder, Alan Becker, once said that he is most proud when the attorneys have vision and create the law.

LaToya carries on that tradition beautifully. In her own words, she describes her work as “really figuring out a space where things can move forward. That’s a good feeling when something has passed both chambers and you know you’ve just affected change. You just created law.”

Congratulations LaToya!
