MORRISTOWN, NJ, March 23, 2011 – Becker & Poliakoff, a pioneer and leader in the field of Community Association law, today announced that attorneys J. David Ramsey and Jennifer Loheac have joined the firm to start the Condo, Homeowners & Co-op practice group.  As heads of the firm’s second New Jersey office, located in Morristown, Mr. Ramsey and Ms. Loheac will continue to devote their practice to community associations in New Jersey and New York, including homeowner associations, condominiums and cooperatives.

Founded in 1973, Becker & Poliakoff has played a pioneering role in the creation of the law pertaining to the operation of shared ownership housing. The Firm’s attorneys are recognized as individual leaders in the field through published works, public service, legislative activities and industry group leadership positions. Several are members of the prestigious College of Community Association Attorneys (CCCA).

“We are thrilled that two of New Jersey’s most prominent community association attorneys have  joined the Firm and look forward to the opportunity to leverage our vast experience in community association law to assist communities in New Jersey and New York,” said Alan Becker, the Firm’s Managing Shareholder.

Victor DiGioia, the partner in charge of the Firm’s New York and New Jersey practice, said, “As we expand our focus from corporate & securities and business litigation to condominium, homeowners, and co-op law, we are fortunate to have two well-respected local lawyers leading the effort.”

Mr. Ramsey, who headed his own firm for a number of years, has professional experience spanning three decades, with a concentration in community association, real estate, zoning and planning law. A past president of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) National and New Jersey Chapters, Mr. Ramsey serves as counsel to the Community Builders Association and is the current chair for the Government & Public Affairs Committee of CAI National.  He received his law degree from Rutgers University.

Ms. Loheac has been recognized for three consecutive years as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine, (a designation awarded to fewer than 2.4 percent of lawyers under 40). Ms. Loheac was elected to the Government & Public Affairs Committee of CAI National and appointed to serve on its Amicus Committee. She is the former chair of the editorial group for “Community Trends,” CAI-NJ’s magazine.  Ms. Loheac is a graduate of the University of Missouri Journalism School and received her law degree from Seton Hall Law School.
