“South Florida Law Firms Embrace Litigator’s Program to Increase Voter Turnout,” Daily Business Review

Becker & PoliakoffFinding time to participate in a General Election can be challenging – even in a year without pandemic-related concerns and restrictions – and the uncertainty of 2020 is tempting many voters to ‘sit this one out.’ Becker is strongly encouraging its employees to resist the urge to bail on the ballot by (1) gifting an additional day of PTO to those who do participate and (2) joining the “A Day Off to Vote” initiative aimed at increasing voter turnout and encouraging Florida attorneys to embrace civic duty.

“Law firms have a particular responsibility in our society,” Gary Rosen, Managing Shareholder of Becker, said. “And to take leadership of this kind of activity is emblematic of what the best of the legal profession can do in our country.”

More than 60 law firms in the Sunshine State have joined the Day to Vote program, encouraging their employees to take a couple of hours or the entire day off to cast a ballot in the presidential election. They predict greater voter turnout will result in candidates who will be more representative of their constituency.
