Becker Expands its Lobbying Footprint in California

Providing Representation and Lobbying Services for Federal and State Clients

Ft. Lauderdale, FL, January 5, 2022 – Becker, a multi-practice commercial law firm with attorneys, lobbyists, and other professionals throughout the US, announced that it has expanded its footprint to Sacramento to provide representation and lobbying services for federal and state clients in California.

Becker will be collaborating with prominent Sacramento lobbying firm Capitol Strategic Advisors who counts the Coalition of Ignition Interlock Manufacturers, Hospital Corporation of America, LKQ Corporation, and Renaissance Learning among its clients.  Veteran Senior Corporate and Government Relations Director Bert Gómez will be based in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. to support Becker’s federal and state clients.

Clients that Becker represents in California include Univision, 3M, NAHREP and iHeartMedia, among others.

Head of Becker’s Federal Lobbying Practice Omar Franco said, “We are excited to have a California presence and our current and future state and federal clients will greatly benefit from our expanded footprint, access and capabilities. During this busy time, Bert will continue to represent new and existing federal clients in Washington, D.C. with Becker’s growing team of lobbyists, while garnering new state and federal opportunities in Sacramento.”

Bert Gómez added, “We are pleased to provide clients with increased advocacy through our California expansion and are grateful for the successes we’ve already had since we started! California is the country’s largest economy. While the market is fiercely competitive, our current and future clients need to be there at both the state and federal level, and Becker can help them achieve their goals.”

The Becker Federal Government Relations team includes Washington, D.C. and state capitol insiders, Capitol Hill veterans, former high-level administration officials and agency experts, and former in-house corporate lobbyists. The bipartisan, collaborative group welcomed the addition of Chris Berardini and picked up many high-profile clients in 2021.

Becker was named a “Top-Performing Lobbying Firm” by Bloomberg Government (2020 – present) and is a member of the Diversity in Government Relations Coalition. Team members are frequently recognized for their contributions to the profession: The National Institute of Lobbying & Ethics named Bert Gomez and Amanda Wood as 2021 “Top Lobbyists,” a designation that Omar Franco also received in 2020. The distinction is reserved for the top 75 professionals nationally who exhibit an innovative approach to their field, significant legislative success, a demonstrated commitment to giving back, and adherence to the highest ethical standards. Omar and Bert have also been recognized as “Hired Guns” in The Hill’s Annual List of Top Lobbyists since 2019.

Government Law and Lobbying has been a core practice for Becker since its founding in 1973. The firm’s team of lawyers and lobbyists includes several who have served in high-level government positions and distinguished themselves in the political and legislative arenas and in state, local, and federal government. The group’s first-hand working knowledge of government, at every level, provides clients with valuable insights, unparalleled access and a deep understanding of the legislative, administrative and regulatory processes to help navigate the maze of government.
