Becker Kicks off Women’s History Month by Celebrating Women of Color in Florida Politics

Becker & PoliakoffTallahassee, FL – March 2, 2020 – Becker hosted its inaugural “Celebrating Women of Color in Florida Politics” event February 19, 2020 at restaurant Table 23 in Tallahassee. Shareholder Yolanda Cash Jackson led the event, which served as a celebratory kickoff to Women’s History Month taking place in March. The networking event was attended by women who work across various facets of Florida politics including government officials, staff members, and lobbyists.

Honorable guests included Florida Representatives Kamia Brown, Tracie Davis, Fentrice Driskell, Dianne Hart, Dotie Joseph, Anika Omphroy, Geraldine Thompson, Barbara Watson, Patricia Williams, and Senate Minority Leader Audrey Gibson. Becker State Legislative Lobbying team members LaToya Sheals and José Fuentes were also in attendance.

This month, in honor of Women’s History Month, Becker honors the contributions of notable women throughout history. Significantly, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment which guarantees and protects women’s constitutional right to vote. And, in Florida, there is a new class of diverse women leaders in the Florida Legislature, providing an opportunity to reshape the makeup of the Legislature and the issues that come from it.

The Firm will continue to celebrate women visionaries and leaders in Florida politics, past and present, throughout the month of March. Follow along via Becker’s social media channels.
