Becker’s Omar Franco and Amanda Wood Join Florida Business Council
Washington, D.C., June 10, 2026 — Becker, a multi-practice commercial law firm with attorneys, lobbyists, and other professionals, is pleased to announce that Omar Franco, Chair of the Firm’s Government Law & Lobbying Practice and Senior Director Amanda Wood have been appointed to join the Florida Business Council.
A new initiative from Florida House on Capitol Hill and the State Society of Florida, the Council is an invitation-only, near-monthly luncheon for Florida-based businesses, trade associations and organizations. The Council brings leaders from across Florida’s economy together for meaningful events, relationship-building and engagement on federal policy and business issues affecting Florida employers, industries and communities.
Council participation is limited to a select group of companies and organizations involved with Florida House on Capitol Hill and/or the State Society of Florida representing a broad cross-section of Florida’s economy.
Omar said, “Amanda and I are thrilled to join the Council’s new effort to connect and elevate Florida’s business community in Washington, D.C.” Amanda added, “We look forward to engaging, networking and supporting the Council in policy and business issues affecting our clients.”
Omar represents a wide variety of clients including Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, higher education institutions, trade associations, non-profit organizations and municipal governments. A recognized leader in the field, Franco was named the 2025 Top Lobbyist of the Year by the Hispanic Lobbyists Association. He has also been honored as a “Top Lobbyist” by the National Institute for Lobbying & Ethics (NILE) in 2024 and 2020 and has been featured on The Hill’s annual “Hired Gun” list of Top Lobbyists every year since 2018.
Amanda’s primary focus is assisting clients with federal funding needs. Her experience as senior Legislative staff on Capitol Hill provides the skills to represent clients on matters ranging from FEMA policy to smart city solution deployment to beach renourishment and major transportation infrastructure. She represents municipal, corporate and nonprofit clients on matters related to transportation, economic development, natural resources, law enforcement, homeland security and social services.
