January 3, 2024 – Becker, a leading multi-practice commercial law firm with attorneys, lobbyists, and other professionals throughout the United States, is pleased to have been a part of the team that obtained approval of The Fort, an innovative public-private partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale providing world-class pickleball facilities plus social and culinary offerings. Specifically, Becker was lead counsel and consultant on the project; negotiated the comprehensive agreement and continues to work with the City of Fort Lauderdale through the development process.
In The Fort, social and competitive pickleball players can choose from 43 professional courts at the world’s first dedicated pickleball stadium. The state-of-the-art facility offers open and reserved play, clinics, leagues, tournaments and watching touring pros train.
Founded by long-term Fort Lauderdale locals, The Fort gives back to the local community. From local charities to youth and senior programs, The Fort will host fundraising events and provide pickleball equipment and training to every Fort Lauderdale public school.
Becker Government Law & Lobbying Practice Shareholder Ellyn S. Bogdanoff stated, “Working on this public and private collaboration of The Fort has been a career highlight as well as a lot of fun. I am proud that Becker has been involved in the creation of over 100 jobs, a win for the community and a big economic impact in Fort Lauderdale. We hope that The Fort will be a draw worldwide for pickleball lovers!”
