President Trump marks the first 100 days of his second term this week as lawmakers return to Washington following a two-week recess.

House Republicans will resume consideration of their budget reconciliation measure to advance President Trump’s tax, immigration, and defense priorities. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has indicated plans to pass the measure by the Memorial Day Recess which is just shy of a month away.

In the meantime, House lawmakers will consider several bills this week, including repeals of various Biden-era environmental regulations. Other legislation moving through expedited procedures deal with booking fee transparency, supply chain resiliency, and broadband policy.

Both Chambers will also hold several committee hearings this week, including the following:

  • The House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee will discuss long-term solutions for the highway trust fund
  • The Senate Appropriations Committee will examine strategies to advance biomedical research innovation
  • The House Education & Workforce Committee will discuss investing in ERISA
  • The House Oversight & Government Reform Committee will examine ways to boost American industry
