Senate in Session

Half of Congress is in session this week with only Senators returning to Washington to vote on nominees amid a mid-week recess commemorating Juneteenth.

Senators will also participate in several committee hearings this week, including the following:

  • The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will consider legislation reauthorizing the FCC’s spectrum auction authority
  • The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee will consider legislation calling for an investigation into the high cost of weight loss drugs
  • The Senate Finance Committee will examine challenges and opportunities surrounding work and Social Security disability benefits
  • The Senate Appropriations Committee will discuss how to make transportation funding more transit-oriented

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden returns from California following a fundraiser over the weekend. This week, he will host a bilateral meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
