The House

The House returns to DC this week to take up a number of bills, chief among them being a bill that would repeal the Biden Administration’s rule expending environmental protections for several bodies of water. Other bills include those concerning servicemember tuition reimbursements and VA operations such as offsite emergency healthcare coverage, medical waste disposal, and online benefits claims processing.

The House will also host a number of committee hearings, including the following:

  • The House Committee on Ways and Means will discuss the state of the American economy in the heartland
  • The House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet will discuss intellectual property and strategic competition with China
  • The House Committee on Budget will hold a hearing discussing the fiscal state of the Union
  • The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability’s Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation will discuss advances in AI

The Senate

The Senate is also in session this week and will hold a number of committee hearings, including the following:

  • The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee will hold a hearing to consider the semiannual monetary policy report to Congress
  • The Senate Finance Committee will discuss tax policy’s role in increasing affordable housing supply
  • The Senate Judiciary Committee’s Competition Policy, Antitrust, and Consumer Rights Subcommittee will discuss fostering competition among dominant digital platforms

The Administration

This week, President Biden will speak at the International Association of Fire Fighters Legislative Conference in Washington. He’ll also travel to Philadelphia, PA on March 9th to announce the release of his FY24 budget.
