The federal government is set to shut down at midnight tomorrow unless lawmakers reach a last-minute funding deal to delay the deadline and buy more time to negotiate a full agreement.

Last week, House Republicans passed a short-term funding bill that failed in the Senate, but the House delayed its return to session this week amid the bicameral shutdown standoff.

Today, President Trump will meet with House and Senate leadership from both parties to discuss their government funding priorities after a similar meeting was cancelled last week.

If no deal is reached and a shutdown occurs, the Administration has threatened mass layoffs that it will not fill once the government reopens.

Barring a shutdown, scheduled committee hearings for the week include the following:

  • The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will examine the future of America’s Black Sea Strategy
  • The Senate Judiciary Committee will examine market competition in American aviation
  • The Senate Finance Committee will discuss the taxation of digital assets
