The 118th Congress Continues

Both Chambers of Congress return to Washington this week, with only the House scheduled to hold votes. The House will take up a number of bills, including those that would reverse a number of COVID-19-era policies such as the healthcare worker vaccine mandate, pandemic-era work-from-home for federal agencies, and the public emergency declaration.

The House and Senate will also hold a number of committee hearings this week:

  • The Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee will meet to discuss trade issues in the 2023 farm bill.
  • The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure will meet to discuss the of transportation infrastructure and supply chain challenges.
  • The House Energy & Commerce Committee’s Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee will meet to discuss American competitiveness and China
  • Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will meet to discuss the Department of Energy’s implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

The Administration

This week, President Biden will travel to Baltimore, Maryland to speak about the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and how it is supporting the City’s Baltimore and Potomac Tunnel.

The President will also meet with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on February 1st to discuss how the two parties can raise the debt ceiling.
